Shontaye Glover, M.S., CCC-SLP
Hello! I am Shontaye. I am a proud alumnus of Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD (Go Bears!) and received my masters of science degree in communication disorders from William Paterson University in my home state of New Jersey. I am ASHA-certified (since 2002) and licensed to practice in New Jersey and New York.
My career as a speech therapist began in the hospital setting working with adults and children experiencing communication and swallowing/feeding challenges. Since that time, I have become a wife and mother to two beautiful daughters and transitioned into the public school and private practice settings. My experience includes assessment and treatment of children and adults with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, cognitive deficits, neurological impairments, genetic syndromes, motor speech disorders, and more.
Almost 4 years ago I realized there was a wide gap between what we the experts know and what parents know. A post on my social media page about the benefits of play uncovered that many parents and caregivers didn't realize how they could hep enhance and develop their children's language skills. From that post was birthed the "Having Our Say Blog." I set myself on a mission to provide tips and resources to parents and caregivers through my blog and social media outlets. Since that time Having Our Say has grown to be much more, but never forgetting my commitment to educating parents.
I believe that learning should be fun and that play is a child's work. It is my responsibility to reach the child and meet them where they are. I am passionate about developing strong foundations at an early age to help children develop lifelong skills. My clients always know that I care and have their best interest at heart. I strive to bring a nurturing and caring disposition to every child I encounter and I am grateful to every parent who entrusts their child to my care.
In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, writing, listening to music, spending time with my family, and getting away to the beach.
